“No one can serve two masters.” — Matthew 6:24
WORTH KNOWING TODAY
Worship is the act of orientation. Whatever you worship receives your attention, sacrifice, loyalty, imagination, and obedience. Whatever you treat as ultimate becomes your master—whether it is money, image, comfort, status, productivity, your phone, the crowd, or the need to be liked. At first, these things ask for your attention. Then your time. Then your energy. Then your honesty. Then your peace. Eventually, they ask for your obedience.
After World War II, the Nuremberg trials forced the modern world to confront the excuse of “just following orders.” Nazi leaders and officials were not treated as morally innocent simply because commands came from above. Stanley Milgram later brought the question into a laboratory. Participants were instructed by an authority figure to administer what they believed were increasingly severe electric shocks to another person. Many continued, even while distressed, because someone in authority told them to proceed.
The terrifying lesson is not that monsters obey. It is that conscience can be trained out of ordinary people. Most of us have never stood inside a historical crisis that obvious. But we are being trained every day in smaller ways: Scroll, Want what we tell you to want, Believe what we tell you to believe. Call it “just how things are.” The question is not whether you obey; you do. The question is whether what you obey is worthy of your life.
TODAY’S MEDIA

A line of men moves across the landscape. The first has already fallen. The second is tipping. The others are still holding on, still trusting the direction, still walking forward. The horror of the painting is quiet. No one is attacking them, no one is forcing them. They are simply following.
TODAY’S ANCHOR
Peace - Do one private act of alignment today: Give without being seen, Choose the right thing even though no one will know. When your outer life and inner loyalty point in the same direction, the mind stops negotiating with itself.
Stability - Refuse one small command from a false master today: Do not check the notification, do not perform for approval, do not answer fear immediately.
Expression - Define one personal line you will not cross. “I will not lie to be liked.” “I will not outsource my conscience to the room.”
REFLECTION
You will obey something. Whether it be money, love, truth, the screen, the self, or something else. Something will ask for your attention, shape your choices, train your life. Make sure it is worthy of your obedience.
